Steve Kim Account Director

Steve is one of those people who sincerely loves marketing. Sincerely. He’s not just a suit (although he does look good in one), he is a genuine communicator. For the past 11 years, he’s been communicating on behalf of his clients and employers, offering up his strategic marketing and business development skills to reap the rewards of traditional and new media strategies, raise brand awareness and drive business results.

During the early days of his career, Steve was a key member of Chalk Media, a leading North American mobile software and content solutions company that was later acquired by RIM.  Fresh from his Masters program, Steve charmed his way into the role and spent the next six years proving how much he truly deserved it. He played a pivotal part in surviving the dot com crash and getting it listed on the TSX Venture Exchange.  He oversaw Chalk’s re-branding strategy, implemented a national PR program, launched content distribution partnerships with major airlines and publications and set the foundation for the company’s strong market position.  And he drank a lot of coffee.

Then Steve took a much-needed break, travelled Thailand, re-evaluated his priorities and went into business for himself. Five years later, he’s never looked back. Though his forward thinking has produced a trajectory of success for both himself and his clients.

Today, when he’s not working around the clock to manage his clients’ marketing requirements, you’ll find him, well, still marketing actually.

Steve is the vice president of the BC chapter of the American Marketing Association (BCAMA), overseeing the Communications Portfolio for the organization and acting as a fixture at all networking events. He is also the co-founder and chair of the C3 Korean-Canadian Society, Western Canada’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to bridging communities and fostering leadership through volunteer service.  In this role, Steve is an advocate for his community and is regularly consulted by private think tanks, academic roundtables and policy makers from all levels of government.

A lover of words, Steve pens articles for publications in the technology, business, marketing, tourism and hospitality sectors.  He earned his master’s degree from Korea University and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Western Ontario.  He currently lives, works and plays in Vancouver. And he still drinks a hell of a lot of coffee.
